Yeah the Boys! πŸ™Œ
Let's get to work.

Here's who YTB Plumbing just hired πŸ‘‡

🌊 Gold Coast born & raised πŸŽ‚ 24 years young πŸ”§ Qualified Plumber πŸ₯Š Boxer πŸš€ Entrepreneur πŸ“ Based in Robina πŸš— Own transport & tools βœ… Available ASAP

My name is Zakk Hislop, 24 years young, plumber, security guard, boxer and entrepreneur. I love to work with my hands and solve complicated problems. I don't give up easy. πŸ’ͺ

I was born and raised in the beautiful Gold Coast 🌊, a dying breed born in the original GC Hospital back in the day in Southport.

I found the love for plumbing when my old man Dave, who was at Reece for 27 years, told me to jump in the trenches and get my plumb on. πŸ”§ Fast forward almost 6 years later I've completed my apprenticeship and started a little bit of my Cert 4.

Currently, I'm doing new construction with a plumber from Burleigh. He is sourcing his work from 1 builder in Ipswich so every day I'll drive up there in the morning to do new residential builds in Spring Mountain. πŸ—οΈ My boss is happy enough to leave me on my own so most the time I work by myself doing rough ins, fit offs, and drainage.

After work every day I am training boxing πŸ₯Š, which I have my first boxing match this coming weekend, the 12th of September. I like to use boxing and martial arts as an escape and place to let out my built up stress and frustration. I appreciate and am grateful for that I have an amazing coach/mentor to help me along the way. πŸ™

Why YTB? πŸš’

I've always wanted to join YTB ever since I saw a big fire truck rock up to connect the water meter on the site I was working on. I've always been interested in the bigger connections and bigger work β€” it interests me a lot more than playing with washers and toilets.

Availability πŸ“

Based in Robina with my own transport and tools. Available ASAP, with some fair notice given to my current employer.

πŸ”§ PLUMBING

πŸ’§

Aspiring Plumbing / Gallium

2021 – 2023 β€’ Apprentice β€’ Residential new builds + portable water treatment plants

I started my apprenticeship with Shane from Aspiring Plumbing and Gallium. When Aspiring Plumbing went quiet on residential new builds, Shane would take me on his new adventure into Gallium, a company building portable water treatment plants. We built tanks that we ended up installing at Rockhampton State School for their new aquatic learning centre. These filtration tanks cleaned water in multiple ways β€” aerator treatment, UV treatment and chemical treatment β€” all in one portable system. I was genuinely interested in building these new treatment plants, but we ended up going our separate ways.

Alternative Plumbing

2023 – 2025 β€’ Apprentice ("Junior") β€’ High-end residential, commercial + hospitality

Continuing my apprenticeship, I joined up with Mick Misuraca from Alternative Plumbing. This is where my plumbing really kicked off. Nicknamed "Junior", I was the young star of the show while the old boys showed me how the ropes go. We worked on multi-million dollar homes on Hedges Avenue, commercial factories in Yatala, and commercial restaurants out at Nobby's Beach β€” we did Lars Bar and The Oxley, as well as all the sushi and clothing shops along the strip there.

I was 22 working with boys no younger than 58. Those blokes in their 60s really showed me how hard yakka should be done, inspiring me to go harder and never give up. The trade tricks I learnt working with the older fellas are tricks and memories I'll never forget. Getting to work with a team of very knowledgeable blokes is something I'll always be grateful for. I moved on wanting to find a crew closer to my own age and a role where I could take on more myself.

LFF Plumbing and Gas

2025 – Current β€’ Finished apprenticeship, now qualified β€’ New residential construction, Spring Mountain

I finished my apprenticeship up with Frank from LFF Plumbing and Gas. Frank has given me a great opportunity to step my solo game up and get in on the action without someone holding my hand. I always appreciate a little help, but to learn properly you've got to do the rough yards yourself, and Frank lets me do that. He sends me the site plans and lets me mark things out instead of just watching someone spray paint the ground. He lets me do the job start to finish off the plans, which gives me a chance to actually use my brain a lot more than previous employers.

I've done great finishing up my apprenticeship with Frank, and I've proved myself enough that he can trust me to get the job done right without needing to stress about it. Day to day that's rough-ins, fit-offs and drainage on new builds, mostly working on my own.

πŸ›‘οΈ SECURITY

🍻

Security Guard β€” Gold Coast & Brisbane

~2 years β€’ Weekends β€’ Direct Protection, BRISK, currently BEST Security

I've worked for multiple companies across the Gold Coast doing security in a variety of venues. From Burleigh β€” the Pink Monkey, Lockwood, Nightjar and the Burleigh Hotel β€” up to Surfers at nightclubs like Cocktails, and normal pubs like the Beer Garden. In Brisbane I've done security at pubs like the Paddington Tavern; after the Broncos games those places are action packed and I always had to be sharp.

I've worked for Direct Protection and BRISK, and currently I'm with BEST Security at RQ's Tavern in Robina every Friday and Saturday. I've chosen to stay at that pub because it's a lot calmer than the other venues I've worked, which helps a lot after a long week of plumbing.

Why waste my weekends going out spending money when I can use them to make money? I've been doing security for about 2 years now to keep ahead in this day and age. πŸ’ͺ

Building an app for tradies

You are probably wondering what this 'tradestock.io' website is… well, it's actually a website I've obtained for my future business 'Plumbstock'. πŸ“±

I'm building an app for plumbers β€” and soon every tradie β€” that I'm very confident in. The plan is partnerships with Reece and the other major leading brands in the industry. I've grown up around the trade, my old man spent 27 years at Reece, and I know exactly what the boys on site actually need from a tool like this.

πŸ₯Š

Keep fighting

Boxing isn't a phase. I want to keep training, keep stepping in the ring and keep testing myself. The discipline that comes with it carries straight into how I turn up to work every day.

🀝

Provide, look after people and lead

At the end of the day I want to provide for and look after the people around me, and be a good leader for my loved ones. Being a reliable plumber someone can count on is a big part of that.

Don't just take my word for it β€” give these blokes a call. πŸ‘‡
